NSF supports Boa, infrastructure for studying software at scale
June 01, 2015
The National Science Foundation is supporting Boa, the lab’s infrastructure for studying software and how it evolves across very large collections of repositories. Boa lets a researcher write a mining or analysis task once and run it over hundreds of thousands of projects without managing the underlying computation by hand.
The award enhances that infrastructure so the wider research community can use it, which has enabled studies of how software is written and how it changes at a scale no single project could reach.
This work is part of Analyzing Software at Scale, with Boa; see our overview of reading the world’s code at once. Details are on the NSF award page.
